| Since the Oklahoma landrush of 1889 Norman has
grown into a popular and smart little town. The spirit of the
town and its citizens is unwavering and uncompromising. While
other towns were clammering to become the state capitol, Norman
innovators wanted to have the state's premier institution of
higher education. When the first OU president got off that train
and saw a prairie, he saw opportunity. That unique spirit is
Norman's legacy and we're continuing to look towards the future.
We constantly look to enhance our community with new attractions
and improvements while keeping a diligent attitude towards preserving
our heritage. Our pride is growing and after you take a peek
at how it all began and you'll see why we are so proud of this
charming university town.
